Maintenance for your PC


You need to perform regularly scheduled maintenance to ensure optimum performance.

 

  • 1. A. Every day when you finished working on your PC delete all *.tmp files. B.when you download files like zip and other compressed files please remember to delete the zip files after you extract them they are big files you will have more space in your HDD. C. Delete the cache files, History, Temporary Internet Files everyday in your Browser when you finish working.

2. Before running ScanDisk and Defragmenter, delete all *.tmp files ,Recycle Bin, Temporary Internet Files , Every Month You have to Run ScanDisk and defrag . Scandisk checks your hard drive for errors in most cases he correct them otherwise he marked them as ""bad clusters”. Defragmenting your hard drive shortens the time needed to find a file in the hard drive by reorganizing the files as the application you use or windows uses them.

 

3. To check that all the devices in your computer working properly. Go to  Control Panel ==> System ==> Hardware ==> Device Manager make sure that there is no Yellow Mark on any of the Devices that installed in your computer. (In WinXp) You can also check all the Updated software and applications that been done in Go To Control Panel ==> Add Remove Program ==> Click on Show Updates
4. Check all the cords and connections on the PC, Monitor, Printer, DSL Modem Scanner, and the Outlet. Make sure all the plugs are tight in their connections.

 

5. A. Clean the mouse. If you have a ball on the bottom, take him out and clean inside that will not be dust and grime, if it is an optic just clean the bottom surface. B. Clean the keyboard turn the keyboard upside down and knock between the keys always fall things.
6. Check your printer. Print a test page. Clean inside with a brush.
7. Every 6 months Make a good backup of your files and your email's and all the data that is important to you, Run Virus Check before you make a backup and keep the disc in a safe place and write the date you make the backup and in General what you backup.
